Tourist Information

Located right on the border between England and Scotland, Gretna Gateway is the ideal place to stop on your journey. We have a Visit Scotland Tourist Information Centre on site (01461 337834) so it’s easy to find out about the abundance of things to see and do in the local area and throughout Scotland. Romantic and historic Gretna and Gretna Green are known the world over for their weddings (up to 4,000 or more weddings per year, in a village with a population of less than 4,000!), which still take place on a daily basis at various wedding venues including the registrar's office and The Old Blacksmith's Shop Visitor Centre. The historic city of Carlisle is just eight miles down the road and the World Heritage Site of Hadrians Wall and the stunning scenery of The Lake District are a mere 30-60 minutes drive away. Dumfries and Galloway, often referred to as “Scotland's best-kept secret”, offers a unique blend of fabulous scenery, glorious beaches, walks and cycling which can be as leisurely or as arduous as you choose, and peaceful tranquility which is difficult to surpass.
